Reflections on joining IBWG and why some communities feel like family from the very first meeting.
I had the pleasure of attending the IBWG Business Forum’s Welcome Back Members’ Appreciation Dinner, and what a truly special evening it was.
Though I am a relatively new member of IBWG, I had attended a few events as a visitor before joining — and every single time, I left feeling the same thing: this is more than a business forum. It’s a community.
You meet someone once, and it feels like you’ve known them for years. You walk away feeling like you have a network of people who genuinely have your back.
There is something intangible but unmistakable about the warmth in that room. The support. The energy. It speaks to what a well-led community can create when the intention is genuinely to connect, grow, and help one another succeed.
A heartfelt thank you to Gulizar Jonian, the remarkable driving force behind every detail, every connection, and every opportunity that IBWG creates. More than an activator, she has been like a big sister from the very beginning — always there to support and empower.
I’m excited for what’s ahead with this group. More of this, please.
